Product Detail
Thymiopoulos Vineyards Naoussa Red (2021) is an exceptional, terroir-driven dry red wine made from 100% Xinomavro. Often compared by wine experts to fine Italian Barolos or complex Pinot Noirs, this wine comes from 26-year-old organically farmed vines spanning both high-altitude mountain plots and warmer lower parcels in Macedonia. Winemaker Apostolos Thymiopoulos ages this vintage in second-use oak barrels to masterfully soften Xinomavro's famously assertive structure while allowing its brilliant natural freshness to shine.
- Aroma: A complex and savory bouquet of fresh black and red small fruits, cherries, plums, sun-dried tomatoes, black olives, and a hint of vanilla.
- Flavour: Full-bodied yet vibrant, featuring crunchy red berries, savory herbs, leather, and earth. It balances a remarkably lively acidity with beautifully rounded, persistent tannins.
- Finish: Long, structured, and pleasantly dry with a lingering mineral and fruity aftertaste.
- Grilled Meats: A classic partner for lamb chops, souvlaki, gyro meats, or flame-broiled burgers.
- Savory Italian & Greek Pastas: Pairs brilliantly with robust, acidic sauces like pasta puttanesca or meat-heavy moussaka.
- Game & Poultry: Perfect for roasted duck or goose, where the grape's natural acidity easily cuts through the rich fat.
- Earthy Accompaniments: Complements dishes featuring sun-dried tomatoes, wild mushrooms, or black olive tapenade.
